The patented Fame In Jet Instrument (FIJI) offers a rapid and easy check on parts per million (ppm or mg/kg) levels of FAME in aviation fuel.
FIJI uniquely utilizes state of the art Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) technology and a patented sample preparation system which allows FAME detection accuracy down to the 10 mg/kg level.
FIJI can be used as a field or lab based screening tool to give a quick indication of possible FAME contamination that may then require further investigation. The instrument helps to prevent expensive testing and avoid costly delays of fuel release.
A Multi-Product version of FIJI is available to measure Distillate & Residual Fuels as well as Jet – SA5200-0
If you are an existing user of FIJI Jet, you can upgrade to enable measurement of FAME in Distillate & Residual Fuels in accordance with ASTM D7963 using SA5050-0
ASTM D1655 mandates FIJI technology for all refineries that are co-processing fuel.
- Measures the presence of all FAME types C8 to C22
- Approved for co-processed fuels
- Analysis time 20 minutes
- 50 ml sample volume
- No hydrocarbon cleaning solvents required
- Laboratory and field instrument
- Suitable for untrained operators
- Patent approved
Additional InfoEase of use:
The instrument is extremely simple to use and fully automatic, specialist operator trainingis not required.
The system is self-cleaning, no solvents are required. After each test you simply replace the cartridge and theinstrument is immediately ready for the next sample.Enhanced test throughput:
Tests require less than 50 ml of sample andtypically take under 20 minutes.
Results are presented in mg/kg units together with an optional traffic light system for flagging FAMEcontamination levels of the fuel.
By comparison current analytical tests can take many hours, require complex equipment and demand highskill levels.Precision and accuracy:
Using a unique sample preparation module the sample is pumped at a controlled flowrate though a proprietary disposable cartridge.
The sample components are analyzed by the FTIR and a result is displayed in mg/kg, agraphical spectrum is also shown.
Please note: FIJI IP 583 Starter Kit (SA5001-0) is required for initial operation.
